Suzka is a live improv, electric and acoustic violinist and recording artist. She has entertained festivals, fashion shows, and special events for over a decade with a unique and soulful sound. With an ability to improvise with DJs live and various artists, she has performed with select clientele in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles, Europe and parts of Africa.
A classically trained violinist from a young age, she later studied gypsy jazz and world music to be able to improvise over various styles of beats.
With five personal albums completed, she has recorded with Grammy and award winning Jamaican artist Kabaka Pyramid and Juno winning artists Maestro Fresh Wes and K-os from Canada.
She has performed in top venues and stages in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angelos and worldwide including Massey Hall (Toronto), The Orpheum (Vancouver), Commodore Ballroom (Vancouver), The Roxy (Los Angelos), Constance Lemuria (Praslin Seychelles), Fairmont Pacific Rim, Marriott and other five star hotels worldwide.
She has performed along side some of the world’s best hip-hop, R&B, world music and soul artists including RZA from Wu-Tang Clan, Stone Mecca, K-os, Maestro Fresh Wes, Lights, The Trews, Bukue One, Chin Injeti, and many Dj’s.
She has enjoyed a live performing and recording career for over fifteen years. For over a decade she was composing strings for various label artists on many songs and albums when not performing live.
With an early start at the Vancouver Music Academy learning the Suzuki method/ear training from the age of five in classical music, it allows her to play anything by ear instantly and without sheet music. She also studied classical music with Mary Sokol Brown from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
She put music aside at the age of fourteen to become a downhill ski racer and only returned to music later in her twenties after some world travels and a chance meeting with Romanian violinist virtuoso, Lache Cercel. She had no plans to become a professional violinist until he mentored her in gypsy jazz and world music, and her love of music returned. Five albums later her passion was clearly ignited.
One of her dream projects was to fuse classical and world gypsy jazz style, with Afrobeat and world music which birthed the ‘ELEVATION Afrobeats’ project 2021′.
An EP of beats from Tanzanian producer, Mlam on Beats and original violin compositions and songs recorded in Vancouver during the first series of ‘lockdowns’ when all the live music venues were closed.
The Ep includes a special feature from 2023 Grammy-winning dancehall artist Kabaka Pyramid on the song ‘We Rising’.
Worldwide travelled violinist/composer and singer/songwriter. Performs live for special events either solo or with Dj’s and records for select artists.
Known for instant improv and playing by ear which allows for energetic performances, unique and original recordings. Has been playing violin and singing since the age of five years old after beginning musical studies at the Vancouver Music Academy and later studied in Hannover, Germany.
Was the youngest member of the Vancouver Youth Orchestra and studied under Mary Sokol Brown from the (VSO) Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. After leaving the classical music world she studied world music and gypsy jazz with Lache Cercel and played as a member of his band for several years.
Has since worked with top artist from around the world including RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Stone Mecca, Maestro Fresh Wes, K-os, Kabaka Pyramid, JUX (Africa), Joh Makini (Africa), Chin Injeti and various other artists worldwide.
Several of her compositions have been placed in feature films, popular TV series, commercials, documentaries and indie films. She has several music placements in films from director Matt Hastings who directed the Emmy Award winning series FALLEN.
Has played various sacred ceremonies and music festivals around the world including Canada, USA, and Africa. Travel is a big part of her album influences and overall sound.
